About Us
Millions of people at midlife are interested in more than just conventional retirement; they want to transition to new work (paid as well as unpaid) while also satisfying a need for more meaning and purpose in their lives. These Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964) represent a vast pool of experience and talents society can draw on to meet community and civic needs.
SHiFT is a new non-profit with a mission to empower midlife moves to meaning in life and work -- a place for midlifers to plan and pursue purposeful work as employees, entrepreneurs, and volunteers. SHiFT is an organization with programs serving individuals and organizations, providing resources and support for:
•Individual shifts: personal transitions to meaningful work in midlife and beyond
•Workplace shifts: work environments conducive to retaining employees over 40
